Emergent Quantum Systems Lab

Welcome to the Emergent Quantum Systems Lab (EQSL) at the University of Notre Dame!

We perform frontier research at the intersection of quantum matter and quantum information. We incorporate quantum liquid and solid materials with quantum electronic and photonic devices to reveal exotic phenomena and create transformative technologies. Our research could lead to ideal platforms for quantum computing, networking, and sensing that will fundamentally change how humankind thinks and lives.

Quantum Computing

A quantum computer can solve certain complex problems that are practically impossible for classical supercomputers, utilizing the quantum “parallelization” of entangled quantum bits (qubits).

Quantum Sensing

A quantum sensor can achieve sensing precision beyond classical limits, by employing specialized measurement techniques to mitigate the uncertainty principle.

Quantum Networking

A quantum network can link distant and diverse quantum nodes to form a powerful hybrid, and transmit sensitive information with guaranteed security.
